When you move a website to FimuroHost, you usually want to upload and test everything before switching your domain over. You can do that: FTP works before your DNS changes, as long as you connect to the right host name.
Which host name to use
Until your domain points to FimuroHost, ftp.yourdomain.com still leads to your old host. Use one of these instead:
- Standard Linux or Windows hosting:
ftp.stackcp.com - WordPress-optimised hosting:
wordpressftp.stackcp.com
Your username and password stay the same. Copy all three from the FTP Details section in StackCP.
How to connect
- Log in to your FimuroHost client area at app.fimurohost.com.
- Go to Services and select your Cloud Hosting plan.
- Click Login to Control Panel / StackCP. StackCP opens for that website, already signed in.
- Unlock FTP in the FTP panel (by time or by your IP address).
- Copy the host, username and password from FTP Details.
- Enter them in your FTP client (for example FileZilla) and connect.
- Upload your site into
public_html.
Tips for a smooth move
- Preview before you switch. Your site also has a temporary address ending in
stackstaging.com, so you can check it in a browser before changing nameservers. - Keep the old host active until the DNS change has fully spread, so visitors never see an empty site.
- Switch to your domain later. Once your nameservers point to FimuroHost, you can start using
ftp.yourdomain.com, but the platform host name keeps working too. - Prefer not to do it yourself? Website migration is free with FimuroHost. Just ask via a support ticket.
