Move a Domain to Another FimuroHost Account (Internal Push)

How to move a domain between two FimuroHost client accounts, for example when selling a business or handing a site to a client, and how it differs from a registrar transfer.

Sometimes a domain needs to move from one FimuroHost account to another, for example when a developer hands a finished site to the client, when a business changes hands, or when you want your domains in a company account instead of a personal one. Because both accounts are with FimuroHost, this is an internal move (often called a push), not a registrar transfer. There is no EPP code involved and no downtime.

How to request the move

  1. Make sure the receiving person has a FimuroHost account. They can create one at app.fimurohost.com.
  2. The current account holder opens a ticket from the account that owns the domain (Support department). Include:
    • the domain name(s),
    • the email address of the receiving FimuroHost account,
    • whether any linked hosting should move too.
  3. We may ask the receiving account holder to confirm by ticket from their account as well, so that both sides agree.
  4. Pay any unpaid invoices for the domain first. A domain with an outstanding renewal invoice may not be movable until it is settled.
  5. Once confirmed, we move the domain. It then appears under Domains → My Domains in the receiving account, and future renewal invoices go to that account.

Whether a move is possible can depend on the extension and account status. If we cannot move a particular domain internally, we will explain the alternatives in the ticket.

Update the owner details

Moving the domain between accounts changes who manages and pays for it, but the domain's Registrant (legal owner) in the registration data stays the same until someone changes it. If ownership is really changing hands, the new holder should update Contact Information after the move.

Remember that changing the registrant's name, organisation or email is a Change of Registrant under ICANN rules. It requires confirmation and normally starts a 60-day lock on transfers to another registrar, unless an opt-out was offered and selected. See Update Domain Contact Details.

What about hosting?

Hosting services can often be moved between accounts in the same ticket. If the hosting stays in the old account but the domain moves, the website keeps working as long as the nameservers and DNS records are unchanged. Just make sure both people understand which account pays for what.

Tips

  • Developers: register client domains in the client's own account from the start. It avoids this step later and keeps ownership clear.
  • After the move, the new owner should turn on two-factor authentication and check that the registrar lock is enabled.

Need help?

To start a move, open a support ticket from your client area (choose the Support department and include your domain name), or message us on WhatsApp at 01818160926. We are happy to check your domain for you.
