GZIP Compression on FimuroHost Cloud Hosting

Compression shrinks HTML, CSS and JavaScript before they are sent to the visitor's browser, so pages load faster. On FimuroHost Cloud Hosting, GZIP compression is already enabled for every site. It is handled by the platform's edge cache, so you do not need to configure anything.

Testing compression correctly

The temporary preview address (ending in stackstaging.com) does not pass through the edge cache. If you test compression on the preview URL it will look switched off. That is expected. Always test using your real domain once it points to us.

To check from a terminal:

curl -sI -H "Accept-Encoding: gzip" https://yourdomain.com | grep -i content-encoding

                        
                    

A result of content-encoding: gzip (or br) means compression is working. Online speed test tools such as PageSpeed Insights also report it.

Enabling compression manually

If you want to add a compression rule yourself, for example to include extra file types:

1. Open File Manager in StackCP, or connect by FTP.
2. Open or create .htaccess inside public_html.
3. Add the following line and save:

   AddOutputFilterByType DEFLATE text/html text/plain text/xml text/css text/javascript application/javascript
   
                           
                       

Tips

• Images such as JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF are already compressed. Adding them to GZIP rules gains nothing.
• If you use WordPress, you do not need a plugin just for GZIP.
