Why Disk Usage in StackCP Doesn't Update Right Away

If you delete files to free up space, you may notice that the disk usage figure in StackCP stays the same for hours. Don't worry: the files are removed from the server immediately. Only the usage display lags behind.

Why this happens

StackCP recalculates the webspace figure periodically, currently about every 12 hours. Until the next recalculation it keeps showing the old number.

Check the real usage now

If your plan has SSH access, you can see the current size straight away:

1. Connect to your hosting over SSH.
2. Run this command in your home folder:

   du -sh
   
                           
                       

3. To see which folders are using the most space, run:

   du -sh * | sort -h
   
                           
                       

Where space usually goes

• Old backup archives (.zip, .tar.gz, .sql) left in the site folder
• Folders created by WordPress backup plugins, usually somewhere inside wp-content
• Cache folders and error logs
• Full mailboxes, if email counts toward your plan's storage
