Webmail lets you read and send email from any browser, on any computer or phone, without setting up a mail app. cPanel Hosting includes Roundcube, a clean webmail program that works much like Gmail or Outlook on the web. Everything you do in webmail stays in sync with mail apps that use IMAP.
How to log in
Directly (for anyone with a mailbox)
- Open
https://yourdomain.com/webmail(orhttps://yourdomain.com:2096) in your browser. Replaceyourdomain.comwith your domain. - Enter the full email address (for example
[email protected]) and the mailbox password. - Click Log in. If you see a list of webmail apps, click Open under Roundcube. You can turn on the option to open your inbox automatically next time.
From cPanel (for the account owner)
In cPanel, go to Email » Email Accounts and click Check Email next to the mailbox. This opens webmail without typing the mailbox password.
Everyday tasks
Write and send a message
- Click Compose.
- Fill in To, Subject and your message. Use Cc or Bcc for extra recipients.
- Click Attach (the paperclip) to add files. Very large attachments are often rejected by the receiving server; for big files, share a download link instead.
- Click Send. A copy is saved in the Sent folder.
Folders
Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Junk/Spam and Trash appear on the left. To create your own folder, open Settings » Folders and click Create (the + button). Drag messages onto a folder to move them.
Search
Use the search box above the message list. Click the small arrow in the box to choose whether to search the subject, sender, body or all folders.
Useful settings
| Where | What to set |
|---|---|
| Settings » Identities | Your display name (what recipients see), reply-to address and signature. Tick “HTML signature” for formatting. |
| Settings » Preferences » User Interface | Language and time zone (for Bangladesh choose Asia/Dhaka so times are correct). |
| Settings » Preferences » Displaying Messages | Whether to show remote images, which protects against tracking. |
| Settings » Preferences » Composing Messages | HTML or plain-text editor, and when to save drafts. |
| Settings » Password (if shown) | Change your mailbox password. |
Roundcube also has a Contacts address book. You can import contacts from a .vcf or .csv file via Contacts » Import.
Out-of-office and filters
Automatic replies are set up in cPanel under Email » Autoresponders, and message filters under Email » Email Filters. Depending on the server, similar options may also appear inside Roundcube’s Settings.
Common problems
- “Login failed”: use the complete email address as the username, and check that Caps Lock is off. The account owner can reset the password in cPanel under Email Accounts » Manage.
- Webmail address does not load: your domain may not point to the server yet. Use
https://your-server-hostname:2096with the hostname from your welcome email. - Sent mail goes to recipients’ spam: run Email Deliverability in cPanel and repair any SPF or DKIM problems.
- “Mailbox is full” or messages bounce: empty Trash and Junk, delete large old messages, or ask the account owner to raise the quota.
- Everything was fine, now it is slow: very large folders (tens of thousands of messages) slow webmail down. Archive old mail into sub-folders.
