You can use your cPanel email account in almost any mail app. All you need is the incoming server, the outgoing server, the ports and your login. cPanel shows the exact values for every mailbox on its Connect Devices page, and this guide explains how to use them in the most common apps.
Find your exact settings
- Log in to your FimuroHost client area at https://app.fimurohost.com.
- Go to Services and select your cPanel Hosting plan.
- Click Login to cPanel. cPanel opens in a new tab, already signed in.
- Go to Email » Email Accounts.
- Click Connect Devices next to the mailbox.
- Use the Secure SSL/TLS Settings (Recommended) box. You can also email these instructions to someone from the same page.
Standard settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Username | Your full email address, e.g. [email protected] |
| Password | The mailbox password (not your cPanel password) |
| Incoming server | mail.yourdomain.com |
| IMAP port | 993 with SSL/TLS (recommended) |
| POP3 port | 995 with SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing (SMTP) server | mail.yourdomain.com |
| SMTP port | 465 with SSL/TLS, or 587 with STARTTLS |
| SMTP authentication | Required: same username and password as incoming |
If the Connect Devices page shows different server names (for example the server hostname), use what it shows. If your mail app warns that the certificate does not match mail.yourdomain.com, check that SSL has been issued for that name in SSL/TLS Status, or use the server hostname from your welcome email instead.
IMAP or POP3?
Choose IMAP. It keeps mail on the server, so your phone, laptop and webmail all show the same messages and folders. POP3 downloads mail to one device and usually removes it from the server, which is only useful for a single computer with limited server space.
Outlook (Windows, Microsoft 365 / Outlook 2021 and later)
- Open Outlook and choose File » Add Account (in the new Outlook: Settings » Accounts » Add account).
- Enter your full email address. Click Advanced options, tick Let me set up my account manually and click Connect.
- Choose IMAP.
- Incoming: server
mail.yourdomain.com, port993, encryption SSL/TLS. Outgoing: servermail.yourdomain.com, port465, encryption SSL/TLS. - Click Next, enter the mailbox password and click Connect.
If the new Outlook only offers automatic setup, choose IMAP as the account type when prompted and fill in the same values.
Apple Mail (Mac)
- Open Mail » Add Account, choose Other Mail Account and click Continue.
- Enter your name, full email address and password, then click Sign In.
- When asked, choose IMAP, and enter
mail.yourdomain.comfor both incoming and outgoing servers and your full email address as the username. - Click Sign In. Mail normally detects the secure ports automatically; to check, open Mail » Settings » Accounts » Server Settings and untick Automatically manage connection settings to set 993 and 465.
On Mac and iPhone, the Connect Devices page also offers a configuration profile you can download and install, which fills everything in for you.
Thunderbird
- Choose Account Settings » Account Actions » Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, full email address and password, then click Configure manually.
- Incoming: IMAP,
mail.yourdomain.com, port993, SSL/TLS, Normal password. Outgoing: SMTP,mail.yourdomain.com, port465, SSL/TLS, Normal password. Username: full email address for both. - Click Re-test, then Done.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings » Apps » Mail » Mail Accounts » Add Account » Other » Add Mail Account (on older iOS: Settings » Mail » Accounts).
- Enter your name, email, password and a description, then tap Next.
- Choose IMAP. Under both Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server, enter host
mail.yourdomain.com, your full email address and password. - Tap Next, then Save.
Android (Gmail app)
- In the Gmail app, tap your profile picture » Add another account » Other.
- Enter your email address and tap Manual setup, then choose Personal (IMAP).
- Enter the password. Incoming server:
mail.yourdomain.com, port993, security SSL/TLS. - Outgoing server:
mail.yourdomain.com, port465, security SSL/TLS, and keep Require sign-in on. - Finish the account options and tap Next.
Common problems
- Cannot send, but receiving works: turn on SMTP authentication and use the full email address as the SMTP username. Some internet providers block port 465 or 25; try
587with STARTTLS. - Password keeps being requested: the password is wrong or was changed in cPanel. Repeated failures can temporarily block your IP address, so fix it quickly.
- Certificate warning: your domain may not point to the server yet, or SSL is not yet issued for
mail.yourdomain.com. Use the server hostname from your welcome email in the meantime. - Sent items missing: in the app’s account settings, set the Sent folder to the server’s Sent folder.
