If you no longer need a hosting plan or VPS, you can ask us to cancel it from your client area. You choose whether it stops immediately or at the end of the billing period you have already paid for. This guide also covers what to do before cancelling, how domains are handled, and how refunds work.
Before you cancel
- Back up everything you want to keep. When a service is cancelled, its files, databases and email are deleted and can’t be recovered. Download your website files, export your databases and copy important email.
- Move your domain’s DNS and email if the website or mailboxes are moving elsewhere, and check that they work at the new provider first.
- Think about your domain separately. Cancelling hosting doesn’t cancel a domain registered with us. It stays in your account and follows its own renewal. If you don’t want it any more, turn off its auto-renew (see below).
- Consider a downgrade instead if cost is the reason. Upgrade/Downgrade on the service page may let you keep your site on a smaller plan.
Immediate or End of Billing Period?
| Type | What happens | Choose it when |
|---|---|---|
| End of Billing Period | The service keeps working until its next due date, then it is cancelled and won’t renew. | You still want to use the time you have paid for, or you are still moving your site. |
| Immediate | The service is cancelled and removed as soon as the request is processed. | You have already moved everything and have no further use for it. |
Step by step
- Log in at app.fimurohost.com and go to Services → My Services.
- Click the service you want to cancel.
- In the side menu, click Request Cancellation.
- Write a short reason. It helps us improve and lets us suggest alternatives if there is a problem we can fix.
- Choose the cancellation type: Immediate or End of Billing Period.
- If an option to also stop the linked domain from renewing is shown, tick it only if you don’t want to keep the domain.
- Click Request Cancellation. The service page then shows that a cancellation request is pending.
An unpaid renewal invoice for that service is normally cancelled along with the request, so you won’t be chased for it. If an invoice for the service still appears unpaid afterwards, let us know.
Changed your mind?
Open a ticket as soon as possible. An End of Billing Period request can usually be withdrawn before the due date. After a service has been cancelled and removed, its data can’t be restored.
Stop a domain from renewing
- Go to Domains → My Domains and open the domain.
- Choose Auto Renew and disable it.
The domain stays yours until its expiry date and then expires. A domain can’t be “unregistered” for a refund: once registered, domain fees are normally not refundable, as explained in our refund policy. If you are moving the domain to another registrar, request a transfer instead of letting it expire.
Refunds
Whether a payment can be refunded, and how much, depends on the product and when you cancel. The conditions are set out in our refund policy; please read it before requesting a refund. To ask for one:
- Submit the cancellation request as above.
- Open a ticket in the General Enquiries department with the service, the invoice number and the reason for the refund request.
- We’ll review it against the policy and reply in the ticket.
If you pay with a PayPal subscription
Cancel the subscription in PayPal as well, so no further automatic payments are sent for the cancelled service.
