Hosting plans, VPS servers and domains are recurring services. Nothing is taken from your card or wallet automatically: we send a renewal invoice, and paying it renews the service for another billing period. This guide explains how it works and how to renew early, renew domains for several years, or stop something from renewing.

Hosting and VPS renewals

  1. Each service has a billing cycle (for example monthly or yearly) and a next due date, both shown on the service page under Services → My Services.
  2. Currently, a renewal invoice is created 14 days before the next due date and emailed to you.
  3. When you pay it, the next due date moves forward by one billing cycle. It is counted from the old due date, not the day you pay, so paying early never loses you any time.
  4. If it isn’t paid, the service is currently suspended about 5 days after the due date, and unsuspended automatically once paid.

Renewing early

If you want to pay before the renewal invoice is created, look for a Renew option under the Services menu or on the service page. If it’s there, it creates a renewal invoice for the next period straight away. If you don’t see it, early renewal isn’t available for that product; simply pay the invoice when it arrives, or add funds in advance.

Changing the billing cycle

To switch, for example, from monthly to yearly, open a ticket before the next renewal invoice is created and tell us which service and cycle you want.

Domain renewals

Domains are registered for a fixed period and must be renewed before their expiry date, shown under Domains → My Domains.

  • Auto-renew is on by default. A renewal invoice is created ahead of the expiry date, and when you pay it the domain is renewed at the registry automatically.
  • If auto-renew is off, no renewal invoice is created and the domain expires unless you renew it manually.

Renew a domain manually or for several years

  1. Go to Domains → Renew Domains, or open the domain and choose Renew.
  2. Choose the renewal period (for example 1, 2 or 5 years, where the extension allows it).
  3. Add it to the cart, check out and pay the invoice.
  4. The new expiry date appears on the domain page once the renewal has been processed, normally within minutes to a few hours.

Turn domain auto-renew on or off

  1. Go to Domains → My Domains and open the domain.
  2. Choose the Auto Renew tab or option.
  3. Click to enable or disable it. You can also tick several domains in the list and use the bulk option to change them together.

Turn auto-renew off only if you really want the domain to expire. Once a domain expires and is released, someone else can register it.

Stopping a hosting or VPS renewal

Hosting and VPS services don’t have an auto-renew switch. To stop one renewing, request cancellation at the end of the billing period: go to the service, click Request Cancellation and choose End of Billing Period. The service keeps working until its due date and then stops. Don’t just ignore the invoice; an unpaid invoice leads to suspension and reminders.

Using credit for renewals

If you keep a balance through Billing → Add Funds, you can apply it to renewal invoices, and depending on current settings it may be applied automatically when the invoice is created.

Common questions

Why is my renewal price different from what I first paid?

Introductory offers and promo codes may apply only to the first period. The renewal price is shown on the service or domain page and on the renewal invoice. See our pricing page for current prices.

My hosting and domain renew on different dates. Can they be aligned?

They often differ, because domains renew yearly from registration. Ask us and we’ll tell you the options for your services.

I paid the domain renewal but the expiry date hasn’t changed.

Allow a few hours for the registry to update. If it still hasn’t changed the next day, open a ticket with the domain name and invoice number.
