How to Add Another Email Service to Your SPF Record

Your domain's SPF record lists every service that is allowed to send email as you. The standard FimuroHost record only covers our own mail servers, so if you also send through another service — a newsletter tool, a transactional email service or another mailbox provider — you need to add it to the same record.

How SPF includes work

Each service is added with an include: entry, separated by spaces. When a receiving server checks your mail, it tries each include in turn; if the sending server doesn't match one, it simply moves on to the next. The -all at the end means "reject anything not listed".

The default FimuroHost record is:

v=spf1 include:spf.stackmail.com a mx -all

                        
                    

Ready-made examples

For any other service, look up its SPF include in that service's help pages and add it in the same way, keeping include:spf.stackmail.com in the record.

Edit your SPF record in StackCP

1. Log in to your FimuroHost client area at https://app.fimurohost.com, go to Services, select your hosting plan and click Login to Control Panel / StackCP.
2. In StackCP, open Manage DNS for the domain you want to change.
3. Find the existing TXT record that starts with v=spf1.
4. Edit its value to add the new include: entry, as in the examples above.
5. Save the changes.

Using nameservers somewhere else? StackCP's DNS editor only takes effect when your domain uses ns1.stackdns.com and ns2.stackdns.com. If your domain points to another DNS provider (for example Cloudflare or your registrar), add the same record there instead.

Common mistakes

• Two SPF records: never create a second TXT record starting with v=spf1. Always merge everything into one.
• Too many lookups: SPF allows at most 10 DNS lookups in total. Each include, a and mx counts, and some includes contain more lookups inside them. If you use many services, check your record with an online SPF checker.
• Removing the FimuroHost include: if you still send from your FimuroHost mailboxes or website, keep include:spf.stackmail.com in the record.
