After you register a domain, transfer one in, or change the domain owner's email address, you receive an email asking you to verify your contact details. This is required by ICANN, the organisation that sets the rules for domains such as .com, .net and .org. If the email address is not verified within 15 days, the registrar must suspend the domain, and your website and email stop working until it is verified.

This guide explains when the email arrives, how to complete it, and how to recover a domain that was suspended.

Why verification exists

Registrars have to confirm that the domain owner can be reached at the email address in the domain's contact record. It helps keep registration data accurate and makes it harder to register domains with fake details. Verifying once is usually enough; you only need to repeat it if you change the owner's email address or move the domain to another registrar.

When you will get the email

  • After a new domain registration
  • After a domain is transferred to FimuroHost
  • After you change the registrant (owner) name or email address
  • If the registrar receives a report that the contact details are wrong

The email is sent to the registrant email address of the domain. It is usually sent by our registrar partner rather than from a FimuroHost address, and the subject mentions verifying your contact information or email address. It contains a link, not a request for your password or payment. If you are ever asked for a password or card details, do not respond; open a ticket instead.

How to verify

  1. Open the mailbox you entered as the domain's contact email. Check the spam, junk, Promotions and Updates folders as well as the inbox.
  2. Open the verification email and click the link.
  3. A page confirms that your email has been verified. No further action is needed.

I can't find the email

  1. Check which email address the domain uses: log in to your FimuroHost client area, go to Domains → My Domains, and click the domain (or the Manage button next to it), then open Contact Information. Look at the Registrant email.
  2. If the address is wrong or you can no longer access it, correct it and save. A new verification email is sent to the new address. Note that changing the owner email can trigger the 60-day transfer lock; see Update Domain Contact Details.
  3. If the address is right but nothing arrived, open a ticket and ask us to resend the verification email. If your client area shows a resend option on the domain page, you can use that instead.

My domain was suspended for not verifying

A suspended domain stops resolving, so visitors may see a notice page or a DNS error, and email to the domain stops. The registration itself is not deleted.

  1. Find the verification email (or request a new one as above) and click the link.
  2. The suspension is normally lifted automatically soon after verification. DNS then needs some time to update everywhere, usually a few hours.
  3. If the domain is still suspended after a few hours, open a ticket with the domain name.

Avoid problems with the contact email

  • Do not use an address on the same domain. If [email protected] is the contact email and the domain is suspended, you cannot receive the email that fixes it.
  • Use a mailbox that you personally control and check, not an ex-employee's or your web designer's address.
  • WHOIS privacy does not stop the verification email; it is still delivered to your real address.

Need help?

If your domain has been suspended and you need it back quickly, open a support ticket from your client area (choose the Support department and include your domain name), or message us on WhatsApp at 01818160926. We are happy to check your domain for you.
