You do not have to transfer your domain to use FimuroHost hosting. A domain registered anywhere, at another registrar or through BTCL for .bd, can point to your FimuroHost hosting. There are two ways to do it: change the nameservers (recommended) or add individual DNS records. This guide explains both.
Before you start
- Add the domain to your FimuroHost hosting first, so the server is ready to answer for it. For Cloud hosting, see How to Add Another Website Domain to Your Cloud Hosting.
- Upload your website (you can preview it before pointing the domain; see Preview a Site Before Changing DNS).
- Have the login for the company where the domain is registered.
- If you use email on the domain, note your current MX records and decide whether email will move to FimuroHost too.
Option 1: Change the nameservers (recommended)
This hands all DNS for the domain to FimuroHost, so you manage everything (website, email, SSL, subdomains) from your hosting control panel.
- Find the nameservers for your hosting:
- Cloud, WordPress or Windows hosting:
ns1.stackdns.comandns2.stackdns.com(ns3/ns4.stackdns.comare optional extras). - cPanel hosting: the nameservers from your welcome email.
- VPS: the nameservers you set up for your server.
- Cloud, WordPress or Windows hosting:
- Log in at your domain registrar and open the domain's DNS or nameserver settings. The menu is often called Nameservers, Manage DNS or Custom DNS.
- Choose the option for custom nameservers, remove the old ones, and enter the FimuroHost values.
- Save. The change usually starts working within a few hours and completes within 24–48 hours.

Option 2: Point DNS records (keep your current DNS provider)
Use this if other services depend on your current DNS, or if you only want the website at FimuroHost.

Find your IP in your control panel; see How to Find the IP Address of Your Hosting Package. Delete any old A records for @ and www so there is only one of each.
With this option, some automatic features, such as one-click DNS tools and some SSL checks, work best when the domain uses our nameservers. If SSL does not issue, see Free SSL Requirements.
Common mistakes
- Changing DNS before the site is ready. Visitors see a default or error page. Set up the hosting first.
- Losing email. Moving nameservers without recreating MX records sends email to the wrong place. Copy them first.
- Mixing nameservers. Do not keep one old nameserver alongside the new ones. All nameservers must serve the same DNS.
- Editing records at the old DNS provider after switching nameservers. Once nameservers point to FimuroHost, only records in your FimuroHost control panel count.
- Letting the domain expire. Renewals stay with your current registrar; FimuroHost does not send renewal invoices for domains registered elsewhere.
Later: transfer the domain
