If your website has outgrown its plan, or you are paying for more than you need, you can switch plans from the client area. Your files, databases, email accounts and domain stay where they are; only the plan’s resources and price change.

You pay only the prorated difference for the time left in your current billing period. On a downgrade, the unused difference is added to your account as credit.

Before you start

  • Check your usage in your control panel (disk space, number of websites, mailboxes, databases). A smaller plan must have room for what you already use.
  • Pay any unpaid invoice for the service first. Plan changes are usually blocked while an invoice is outstanding.
  • Compare plans on our pricing page.

Step by step

  1. Log in at app.fimurohost.com and go to Services → My Services.
  2. Click the service you want to change.
  3. In the side menu, click Upgrade/Downgrade. For extra resources on the same plan (for example more RAM or storage on a VPS, if offered) you may also see Upgrade/Downgrade Options.
  4. The plans you can move to are listed. Choose the new plan and billing cycle and click to continue.
  5. Review the summary: it shows the new plan, the amount due now, and the new recurring price.
  6. Choose a payment method and click to continue to checkout, then pay the invoice.
  7. After payment, the change is applied automatically, usually within a few minutes. You receive a confirmation email.

How proration works

You are charged only for the rest of the current period at the new price, minus what you have already paid for that time.

ExampleAmount
Current plan, paid yearly$60 per year
New plan, yearly$120 per year
Time left in the period6 of 12 months
Difference for the remaining time($120 − $60) × 6/12 = $30 to pay now

The figures are an example only. The exact amount is calculated for you on the summary page. Your next due date stays the same, and from then on renewals are at the new plan’s price.

A downgrade works the other way: the unused difference is added to your account credit and can be used on future invoices. It is not paid back to your card or wallet.

After an upgrade or downgrade

  • Hosting: new limits apply as soon as the change completes. Nothing moves and there is normally no downtime.
  • VPS: adding CPU or RAM may need a reboot to take effect. Disk space can usually be increased but not reduced, so a VPS downgrade to a smaller disk may need a new server and a migration. Open a ticket before downgrading a VPS.
  • Check your control panel to confirm the new limits.

Changing to a different type of product

Moving between product types, for example from Cloud Hosting to a VPS, or from Linux to Windows hosting, isn’t an upgrade. You order the new service, move your website, then cancel the old one. Our team can advise on the best way through a ticket.

Common problems

ProblemReason and fix
No Upgrade/Downgrade linkThere is an unpaid invoice for the service, the service isn’t Active, or the plan has no upgrade path. Pay any invoice or open a ticket.
“An upgrade is already in progress”You started an upgrade but didn’t pay it. Pay or cancel that invoice (ask us) before starting another.
Upgrade paid but limits unchangedWait 15 minutes and log out of the control panel and back in. If still unchanged, contact us.
Downgrade refused because of usageDelete old files, backups or mailboxes first so your usage fits the smaller plan.
