You are always free to move a domain registered with FimuroHost to another registrar. Under ICANN rules the domain owner has the right to transfer, and FimuroHost does not charge a fee to release a domain. You pay only the new registrar's transfer price, which usually includes a year's renewal. This guide covers the whole process from our side.

Before you start

  • The domain must be more than 60 days past its registration, its last transfer, or an owner change (unless you opted out). See The 60-Day Transfer Lock Explained.
  • The domain should not be expired and in redemption. If it is close to expiry, transfer well before the date, or renew it first.
  • Make sure the registrant email in Contact Information is correct and you can access it, since codes and notices may be sent there.
  • If your DNS is managed by FimuroHost (hosting nameservers or client-area DNS) and you are also leaving our hosting, plan where DNS will be hosted afterwards. Nameservers are kept during the transfer, but if you cancel hosting, DNS hosted with it stops too.

Step 1: Disable the registrar lock

  1. Log in to your FimuroHost client area, go to Domains → My Domains, and click the domain (or the Manage button next to it).
  2. Open Registrar Lock and click to disable it.
  3. Wait a few minutes. A lookup at lookup.icann.org should no longer show clientTransferProhibited.

Step 2: Get the EPP code

  1. On the same domain page, open Get EPP Code.
  2. Depending on the extension, the code is either shown on screen or emailed to the registrant email address. If emailed, check spam folders too.
  3. Copy the code exactly. It is case-sensitive.

If the option is not shown or no email arrives within an hour, open a ticket. ICANN requires the code to be provided within five calendar days of your request, and we usually respond much sooner.

Step 3: Start the transfer at the new registrar

  1. Order a transfer at the new registrar and enter the EPP code.
  2. Keep the current nameservers during the transfer so your website and email continue working.
  3. Watch for emails from the new registrar and from our registrar partner. You may be sent a notice where you can approve the transfer to speed it up, or reject it if it was not you.

Step 4: Wait for completion

Transfers usually complete within 5–7 days. If nothing is done, the registry normally approves the transfer automatically after five days. When it completes, the domain shows as Transferred Away in your client area and is managed by the new registrar.

After the transfer

  • Any unpaid FimuroHost renewal invoice for the domain is no longer needed; tell us if you want it cancelled.
  • If you still use FimuroHost hosting, keep the nameservers pointed to us at the new registrar.
  • WHOIS privacy from FimuroHost ends with the transfer. Turn on the new registrar's privacy service if you want it.

Common problems

  • The new registrar says the code is invalid. Request a new code from Get EPP Code and paste it without spaces.
  • The new registrar says the domain is locked. Check the registrar lock is disabled and wait for the lookup to update.
  • The code went to an old email address. Update the registrant email under Contact Information first. Note that changing the owner email can start a 60-day lock, so if possible ask us to help instead.
  • I changed my mind. Reject the transfer from the notice email, or cancel it at the new registrar, and turn the registrar lock back on.

.bd domains are not registered with FimuroHost and are managed through BTCL.
