Thunderbird is a free email app for Windows, macOS and Linux (and now Android too). We recommend connecting it with IMAP so that your messages and folders stay in sync with webmail and your other devices.
Add a new account
- In Thunderbird, open the menu and choose Account Settings → Account Actions → Add Mail Account (or New → Existing Mail Account).
- Enter your name, full email address and mailbox password, then click Continue.
- If Thunderbird suggests settings, click Configure manually and check them against the tables below.
- Click Done.

Check an existing account
- Incoming: open Account Settings and choose Server Settings under your account.
- Outgoing: open Account Settings and choose Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left-hand list, then select the server and click Edit.
Common problems
- Security exception / certificate warning: use the
stackmail.comserver names rather than a name on your own domain. - Login failed: make sure the username is the full email address and the authentication method is "Normal password" (not OAuth2).
- Can't send: if port
587is blocked on your network, try465with SSL/TLS.
