How to Set Up a Cron Job (Scheduled Task) in StackCP

A cron job is a command that runs automatically on a schedule: every few minutes, once a day, once a month and so on. In StackCP cron jobs are called Scheduled Tasks.

Open Scheduled Tasks

1. Log in to your FimuroHost client area at app.fimurohost.com.
2. Go to Services and select your hosting plan.
3. Click Login to Control Panel / StackCP. StackCP opens for that website.
4. Click Scheduled Tasks.

Set up the task

Every task has three parts.

1. The command

This is normally either a request to a web address or a PHP script to run. If you run a PHP script, choose the correct PHP version using the options on the right, matching the version your site uses. Examples:

wget -q -O /dev/null "https://yourdomain.com/wp-cron.php?doing_wp_cron"

                        
                    

This calls the WordPress scheduler through the web. To run a script file directly, select PHP and enter the path to the script in your hosting.

2. How often it runs

Use the drop-down menus to pick a preset interval such as every 5, 10 or 15 minutes, or build your own schedule by choosing specific minutes, hours and days of the month.

3. Email notifications (optional)

Enter an email address to receive the task's output. An email is only sent when the task actually produces output. If the command prints nothing, you get no email.

Tips

• WordPress: for busy sites, add define( 'DISABLE_WP_CRON', true ); to wp-config.php and run wp-cron.php from a Scheduled Task every 5 to 15 minutes instead. This makes scheduled posts and emails more reliable.
• Do not run heavy tasks more often than needed. Every 5 minutes is plenty for most jobs.
• If a job seems not to run, add an email address temporarily to see its output or error messages.
