What Is the Maximum MySQL Database Size?

Each MySQL database you create on FimuroHost Cloud Hosting can currently store up to 1024 MB (1 GB) of data. Limits can change over time, so ask support if you need more.

That may sound small next to your disk space, but a database stores mostly text, so 1 GB goes a long way.

How much space do sites really use?

The average customer database is around 10 MB. A typical blog or business site, even with years of posts, stays well under the limit. The sites that come close are usually large online shops or sites whose plugins write a lot of log or statistics data.

Check your database size

1. Log in to your FimuroHost client area, open Services and select your hosting plan.
2. Click Login to Control Panel / StackCP. StackCP opens with the tools for that website (single sign-on, so there is no second password to type).
3. Click MySQL Databases. The Manage MySQL Databases list shows the space each database uses.

For a table-by-table breakdown, open the database in phpMyAdmin. The table list shows the size of each table.

Keep your database lean

• WordPress revisions and spam: delete old post revisions, trashed posts and spam comments.
• Log and statistics tables: security, redirect and analytics plugins can build up huge tables. Clear old entries or limit how long they keep data.
• Expired transients: cached data in wp_options can pile up. A reputable clean-up plugin can remove it.
• Optimise tables: in phpMyAdmin, select the tables and choose Optimize table to reclaim space after large deletions.
• Don't store files in the database: keep images and uploads on disk and store only their paths.

Take a backup before you delete anything.

If you need more than 1 GB

• Use a second database: some applications can split data (for example, logs or a separate app) across more than one database.
• Change your package: WordPress-optimised packages allow only a single database. If you need more, a standard Cloud Hosting package lets you create multiple databases. Contact support to discuss the best option.
