If you use Google Workspace (previously called G Suite) for email, your domain needs Google's MX records. StackCP can add them for you in one click, so you do not have to copy records by hand.

Before you start

  • Your domain must use FimuroHost nameservers (ns1.stackdns.com and ns2.stackdns.com), otherwise changes in StackCP have no effect.
  • Sign up for Google Workspace and create your users there first.
  • Switching MX records moves all incoming mail for the domain to Google. Mailboxes hosted with FimuroHost will stop receiving new mail.

Apply the Google Workspace records

  1. Log in to your FimuroHost client area, go to Services, select your hosting plan and click Login to Control Panel / StackCP.
  2. Open Manage DNS for your domain.
  3. Near the top right, find the Auto DNS Configuration Tool.
  4. Choose the Google option, shown as G Suite (email only).
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click Update DNS.

The tool replaces your mail records with Google's. Changes normally start working within a few hours.

Finish the setup in Google

  • Verify your domain: Google Admin will ask you to add a TXT verification record. Add it in Manage DNS as a new TXT record.
  • SPF: make sure you have a single SPF TXT record that includes include:_spf.google.com. Having two SPF records breaks both.
  • DKIM: generate a DKIM key in the Google Admin console (Apps → Google Workspace → Gmail → Authenticate email) and add the TXT record it gives you.
  • DMARC: add a TXT record at _dmarc, for example v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:[email protected], and tighten it later.

Common problems

  • Mail still arriving at the old mailbox: DNS may still be updating, or your domain is not using our nameservers.
  • Website stopped working: the tool only changes mail records, so check you have not removed A or CNAME records by accident.
  • Google says records are missing: check them with dig MX yourdomain.com +short or an online DNS lookup.
