Normally only websites on the same server can reach your databases, which is the safest setup. Sometimes you need to connect from outside: to manage data with a desktop tool such as MySQL Workbench, HeidiSQL or DBeaver, or to let an app on another server read the database. cPanel’s Remote Database Access tool lets you allow specific IP addresses to connect.
Before you start
- Find the public IP address of the computer or server that will connect. On your computer, search “what is my IP” in a browser.
- Many home and mobile connections in Bangladesh change IP address often. If yours does, you will need to update the allowed address when it changes.
- Create the database and user first with the Database Wizard.
Allow an IP address
- Log in to your FimuroHost client area at https://app.fimurohost.com.
- Go to Services and select your cPanel Hosting plan.
- Click Login to cPanel. cPanel opens in a new tab, already signed in.
- In the Databases section, click Remote Database Access (called Remote MySQL on older versions).
- In Host, enter the IP address, for example
203.0.113.25. You can use%as a wildcard, for example203.0.113.%for a whole range. - Optionally add a Comment such as Office PC so you remember what it is.
- Click Add Host.
The address appears under Access Hosts. It applies to all databases and database users in your cPanel account; each connection still needs a valid username and password.
Avoid entering only %, which allows every IP address in the world to try your database passwords.

Note that localhost only works for code running on the cPanel server itself. From your computer you must use the server’s hostname or IP.
Connect with a desktop tool (example: MySQL Workbench)
- Click the + next to MySQL Connections.
- Enter a name, the hostname, port
3306and the username. - Click Store in Vault to save the password, then Test Connection.
- Click OK and open the connection.
If it still does not connect
- “Access denied for user”: check the full username with prefix and the password, and that the user has been added to the database.
- “Host … is not allowed to connect”: the IP you added does not match your current public IP. Check it again and add the new one.
- Timeout / cannot connect on port 3306: the server firewall may not allow remote MySQL connections for your plan. Open a ticket with your IP address and we will let you know whether remote access can be enabled.
- If your plan includes SSH access, a safer alternative is an SSH tunnel: most tools (Workbench, HeidiSQL, DBeaver) have an “SSH” option where you enter your cPanel username and SSH details, and then connect to
127.0.0.1:3306through it. No IP needs to be added.
Security tips
- Remove access hosts you no longer need.
- Create a separate database user with only the privileges the remote app needs.
- Never allow remote access for the database user your live website uses, if you can avoid it.
