Using a .bd Domain with FimuroHost Hosting

Domains ending in .bd (such as .com.bd, .org.bd or .net.bd) and the Bengali-script .বাংলা are Bangladesh's country-code domains. They are managed by BTCL, and FimuroHost does not sell or transfer them. You can still host a website and email for a .bd domain with FimuroHost, because hosting only needs the domain to point to our servers.

Why we cannot register .bd domains

Each country-code extension has its own rules. .bd registrations are handled through BTCL (directly or through the agent you bought from), and they cannot be moved to a generic-domain registrar in the way a .com can. That means you cannot use the FimuroHost transfer page or client-area options such as Get EPP Code for a .bd domain. Renewals are also paid to BTCL or your agent, not to FimuroHost.

How to point a .bd domain to FimuroHost

1. Add the domain to your hosting first. For Cloud, WordPress or Windows hosting, order the hosting for the .bd domain or add it as an extra site in StackCP. For cPanel hosting or a VPS, set it up as described in your welcome email.
2. Find the nameservers you need.

   Hosting type	Nameservers
   Cloud, WordPress, Windows hosting	ns1.stackdns.com, ns2.stackdns.com (ns3/ns4.stackdns.com can be added too)
   cPanel hosting	As given in your welcome email
   VPS	Your own nameservers, or the DNS service you use for the server

3. Change the nameservers at BTCL. Log in to the BTCL domain portal (or ask the agent who registered the domain for you) and replace the current nameservers with the ones above. Some agents need a written request from the registered owner.
4. Wait for DNS to update. Changes to .bd nameservers can take longer than generic domains, sometimes a day or two. See Why Do DNS Changes Take Up to 48 Hours?.
5. Check the result. Use How to Check Which Nameservers Your Domain Uses to confirm the change.
6. Activate SSL. Once the domain points to us, the free SSL certificate can be issued.

If you cannot change the nameservers

Some .bd domains are managed by an agent who keeps control of the DNS. In that case, ask them to create these records instead:

• An A record for the domain and for www pointing to your hosting IP address (see How to Find the IP Address of Your Hosting Package).
• MX and related records for email, if you use FimuroHost email. Your control panel shows the values.

Using nameservers is simpler, because every later DNS change can then be made in your hosting control panel without waiting for the agent.

Tips

• Keep your BTCL renewal date in your calendar. FimuroHost cannot send renewal invoices for a domain we do not manage, and an expired .bd domain takes your site offline even if your hosting is paid.
• If you also want a global presence, consider registering the matching .com with us and redirecting one to the other.
