How to Activate the Free SSL Certificate in StackCP

Every FimuroHost Cloud Hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt. It lets your site load over https://, so browsers show it as secure and data between your visitors and your site is encrypted. The certificate covers your domain and its subdomains (a wildcard), and it renews automatically.

Before you start

• Your domain must use the FimuroHost Cloud Hosting nameservers: ns1.stackdns.com, ns2.stackdns.com, ns3.stackdns.com and ns4.stackdns.com. If you only point an A record at the hosting, the free certificate can't be activated.
• If you just changed nameservers, wait until the change has taken effect. This is usually a few hours.

Activate the certificate

1. Sign in to your FimuroHost client area at https://app.fimurohost.com.
2. Go to Services and select the hosting plan for the site.
3. Click Login to Control Panel / StackCP. StackCP opens for that site without a separate password.
4. In StackCP, go to the Security section and click SSL/TLS. If you see a list of packages first, choose Manage Hosting and then Manage next to your site.
5. Find your domain name in the list and click Activate Free SSL.
6. Optional but recommended: at the bottom of the same page, enable Force HTTPS. Visitors who type http:// are then sent to the secure version automatically.

How long it takes

Allow up to 30 minutes after activation. The platform has to update its load balancers before the certificate is served everywhere. Until then, you may still see the old certificate or a warning. Open the site again in a private/incognito window after the wait.

Common problems

• The Activate button is missing or activation fails. Check your domain's nameservers. Nearly every failure happens because DNS is still with another provider.
• The padlock is missing, or there is a "Not secure" warning after 30 minutes. The page is usually loading some images, CSS or scripts over http:// (mixed content). See "Fix "Not Secure" Warnings Caused by Mixed Content".
• WordPress still shows http links. In WordPress, go to Settings → General and change both the WordPress Address and Site Address to https://.

Tip: you don't have to renew anything yourself. The free certificate renews automatically as long as your domain keeps using our nameservers.
